Discover Boston with Celio González Villalba

Boston

An Iberia pilot for more than 30 years and currently an Airbus 350 chief pilot, Celio shares some tips from one of his favourite destinations, Boston, where American history, business, and modernity mix.

A STROLL
Built in 1634, Boston Common is one of the oldest parks in the United States and occupies approximately 20 hectares. It is located next to the Boston Public Garden, with an English-style pond and gardens that in autumn take on spectacular ochre and gold tones. It’s also just ten minutes from monuments such as the Old State House and the Boston Massacre memorial site, the origin of the struggle for US independence.

A CULTURAL STOP
Only the New York Met has a larger art collection in the US than Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, which ranges from Egyptian antiquities and Japanese pottery to post-Impressionism. If you like history, visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

SHOPPING
More than 60 shops, plus restaurants, are located in Prudential Centre, while Wrentham Village Premium Outlets offers excellent opportunities for top brands. If you prefer to shop while enjoying the city, Newbury Street combines well-known firms and independent design.

DON’T MISS
Chinatown Gate is the gateway to Boston’s Chinatown, the third largest in the US. Locals gather here to celebrate its Main Street Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, which includes street food and live performances.

WITH THE FAMILY
The USS Constitution Museum, also known as Old Ironsides, traces the maritime tradition within a spectacular 1797 frigate, which is the oldest military vessel in the world still afloat.
