Iberia’s New “Bag on Board” Service Makes Travelling Easier for Customers

From today until next Sunday Iberia customers in Madrid and Barcelona will check in nearly 40,000 pieces of luggage. Packing, taking luggage to the airport, checking it in –it all causes stress and fatigue just as your holidays begin. There always seem to be too many cases, bags, rucksacks.

To facilitate a better beginning to its customers' holidays, and as a part of its ongoing digital transformation process, Iberia has just launched its pre-flight home luggage pick-up service called "Bag on Board" (BoB) in partnership with this start up, another example of the concept of "open innovation" that Iberia has adopted in the framework of it´s ongoing digital transformation process.

Iberia’s new Bag on Board (BoB) pickup service is designed to lift that burden from its customers. Paying just 15 euros for the first piece of luggage, and five euro for each additional piece, customers in greater Madrid and Barcelona can have their luggage picked up at home the day before their flight, and retrieve it at their destination.

Initially the service is available only to customers in the Madrid and Barcelona areas. It is good for all Iberia destinations except those in the United State, Israel, and Senegal.

 

How it Works

  • To book the service, the customer needs only to contact Iberia, giving the pick-up address and time and the number of pieces.
  • The customer can change or cancel the pick-up service at no cost by notifying Iberia at least two hours before the pick-up time.
  • BoB personnel seal each piece of luggage in the customer’s presence.
  • Check-in desk: Just show your ticket and passport, or get your boarding pass on line.
  • Delivery: Your luggage will be waiting on the appropriate carousel at your destination.

  • No taking heavy loads to the airport before your flight –your luggage is already there!
  • Book the service on line at iberia.com, or by telephone, at any time between 08:00-20:00 h. Change the pick-up time or cancel the service without charge by contacting Iberia at least two hours before pick-up time.
  • The service is available anywhere in Madrid, Barcelona, or their suburbs, at private homes or flats, hotels, or offices.
  • Trace your luggage in real time via email or SMS.
  • No more queuing at the check-in counter, It you obtain your boarding pass on line, you needn’t come to the counter at all.
