Tomorrow, 5 December, is International Volunteer Day. To mark the occasion, Iberia looks back on one of its latest solidarity initiatives, which emerged in the first edition of its “ideas laboratory”, the Iberia Lab.
The project Solidarity Avios allows customers to make their trips go much further, since they can donate any Avios they earn when flying with Iberia and support the work of a dozen organizations, such as Ayuda en Acción, the Aladina Foundation, Integra Foundation, Save the Children, the 38 Degrees Foundation, and Aviation Without Borders.
Additionally, they can support other NGOs that have emerged on the initiative of Iberia employees, such as Mano a Mano - an NGO founded by Iberia staff to carry out projects in soup kitchens, schools and hospitals in Spain and countries such as Guatemala, Cuba, Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Peru, and Venezuela-; Envera – an organisation that works for the social and professional integration of people with physical, mental, and sensory disabilities; and the Sepla Ayuda Foundation.
Iberia customers donated more than 30 million Avios in 2023 for social integration, child health, and development cooperation projects, among others.
These 30 million solidarity Avios are equivalent to 2,000 round-trip flights to European cities such as Paris, Rome, Berlin, London, and Vienna.
