Xīn Nián Kuài Lè, 新年快乐 (Happy New Year!) Today is the first day of the Year of the Pig and Iberia is celebrating with its customers from both East and West.
On board of Iberia flights between Shanghai and Madrid, Iberia is offering their customers a red envelope with two gifts, an origami of a pig and a discount voucher for Iberia flights, until today.
The airline is also taking part in a number of public events to mark the new lunar year.
It will have a stand at the Spring Market this coming Friday and Saturday in Madrid’s Usera Square, where Chinese handcrafts and other goods will be on sale. At the Iberia stand adorned with red lanterns visitors can pick up red envelopes containing the origami of a pig plus a discount voucher for an Iberia ticket. There will also be a chroma key for visitors who want to transport themselves to Shanghai for a few minutes.
The Chinese New Year parade is the crowning event of the festivities, and will be held on Sunday, 10 February at 11:00 a.m., featuring dancing lions and dragons, lanterns, and music. Iberia will take part with its own float for the occasion, showing a boat with a pagoda and a dragon’s head.
Iberia also sponsored Chinese New Year’s concert at Madrid’s National Auditorium last weekend, and gave away freshly sliced Iberian ham in the lobby.
