As Madrid Airport remains closed, all flights are cancelled on Sunday, except long-haul flights after 23:00

• All flights are cancelled on Sunday, except long-haul flights after 23:00 about which we will provide updated information throughout the day.
• The airline is working with the airports authority AENA to ensure that these flights can operate, since they are chiefly bound for destinations in the Americas, with many passengers having connection flights and also being subject to Covid-19 test requirements, thus needing to fly as soon as possible. 
•  Also in coordination with AENA, we will endeavour to bring Madrid the 22 aircraft and crew, with 2,900 passengers that were diverted to other airports from yesterday. 
• This will bring these customers to their final destinations as soon as possible, while also kicking off Monday’s flight programme under the best possible conditions, returning to a normal sitution in the shortest possible time,  to the direct benefit of customers affected by cancelled week-end flights.
• If this all works out we’ll immediately contact those customers, so it is vital that they all add their current contact details to their booking on the website Iberia.com under “Manage your Booking”. 
• Meanwhile, we request that customers do not proceed to the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas Airport or to other airports for departures to Madrid.
• Despite the substantial increase in staff answering our helplines, callers may note a poorer service during this snowstorm event, for which we apologize. Whenever possible we recommend that you use www.iberia.com to make changes to your booking, instead of the telephone, leaving lines free for emergencies and special needs.
• To lessen the impact of this event on your travel, Iberia has decided to be flexible with booking conditions for customers expecting to fly yesterday, today, tomorrow, and even Monday although we expect to fly normally on that day if the airport opens. These customers can change their flight date up to 20 March. If the airport should remain closed longer, these conditons would also apply to the customers affected.
• To make the changes, contact Iberia or the travel agency where you purchased the ticket. If you bought them directly from Iberia for a flight today, 9th January or tomorrow, you can make the changes on iberia.com (“Manage My Booking”). 
• Iberia is pressing the authorities to give priority to clearing the road accesses to Madrid airport, in order to ensure the movement of employees and the receipt of supplies, including de-icing materials.

• Iberia’s VIP lounge will remain open day and night, and Arrivals Hall 10 has been equipped to accommodate stranded passengers with blankets and snacks.

• Our employees are working double shifts, due to difficulties to reach the airport, since roads are closed and the only means of transport now operating to the airport is the Madrid Metro (underground).
