Next summer, Iberia will start flying to a new destination, Ljubljana. This route will be available from 29 July to 5 September 2024 with two weekly frequencies, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The airline’s customers can already purchase the tickets to visit the Slovenian capital on iberia.com, from €xx per journey when purchasing a round trip.
In total, this summer the airline will offer 7000 seats from Madrid.
This route will be operated by the Airbus 320neo, the most technologically advanced and efficient aircraft in Iberia's short- and medium-haul fleet. Equipped with Leap-1A type CFM engines, it is 50% quieter and cuts emissions by between 15% and 20%.
In 2021, Iberia carried out a survey on its social media to find out to which destination its followers wanted the airline to fly that summer, and they chose Ljubljana.
A Destination with Endless Potential
Ljubljana is over 2000 years old. Its rich history and its proximity to the Julian Alps set it apart from other capital cities in the former Yugoslavia. It has the added bonus of being a small, walkable, city.
From Ljubljana Castle, a must for visitors, to its numerous museums, the opera, the Triple Bridge and Congress Square, the city offers many options for an unforgettable trip. Its streets are full of charm and combine tradition, art, and antiquity with more modern areas, such as the Neboticnik skyscrapers, which will amaze any traveller.
Just 60 kilometres from the city lies one of Slovenia’s most popular sights: Lake Bled. Its impressive blue water surrounds the country’s only natural island, on which stands Sexton House, a 15th-century chapel that can only be accessed after climbing up 99 steps. In addition to the sanctuary, the Church of Mary and the Provost's House complete this spectacular place.
