• The airline showcased its onboard experience for 21 days, in the T zone of Bogotá (Carrera 12A#83-61), one of the landmark leisure and restaurant areas of the city.
• Those who visited the Espacio Iberia, in addition to learning about the onboard experience and tasting the in-flight meals offered on the Bogotá-Madrid route, had the chance to try on iconic Iberia uniforms, use a flight simulator, and enjoy activities such as showcooking and wine and Spanish cuisine tastings, as well as enjoying meetings with talents such as the urban artist Chota13, the musical group Ventino, Maréh, and the actors Majida Issa and Marlon Moreno.
The Espacio Iberia in Bogotá, the experience venue that Iberia set up for 21 days in the T zone of Bogotá, closes its doors today after a very successful few weeks, during which it welcomed over 5,300 visitors.
During this time, the airline's customers and the general public were able to enjoy the best Iberia experience by trying the seats and sampling the on-board meals, flying a plane in a simulator, trying on the iconic uniforms that Iberia crews have worn for decades, and enjoying activities such as showcooking and tastings, and meetings with some of the most representative talents of Colombian urban art, music, and performance.
Business Class Experience in the Centre of Bogotá
The activity most valued by visitors was the onboard experience, where a cabin of a new-generation Airbus A350 aircraft was recreated, with two Business class seats, four Premium Economy seats and another four Economy seats. Almost 1,500 people were able to taste the meals offered on board the flights between Bogotá and Madrid, made with high-quality raw materials, with dishes based on the Mediterranean diet.
Additionally, several showcooking events offered a first-hand look at the process of preparing the meals on board the plane and ending with a tasting of the dishes offered.
A number of tastings of wine and the best of Spanish cuisine were also carried out, with dishes such as jamón ibérico and Asturian fabada, to give just a few examples.
Fly Using a Real Simulator
The Espacio Iberia also featured a real airplane simulator in which visitors were able to make a short 10-minute flight, including take-off and landing, following the instructions of an instructor. More than 750 visitors took part in this experience.
Cabin Crew for a Few Minutes
Another of the attractions of the Espacio Iberia was its display of iconic uniforms. More than 400 people had the chance to become crew members for a few minutes by trying on a replica of one of their uniforms.
The airline brought replicas of all its uniforms, in different sizes, to Bogotá. Visitors got to see the first uniform, designed in 1946, which had a military style, as well as those by Pedro Rodríguez and the iconic ones by Elio Berhanyer and Pertegaz, Alfredo Caral, Adolfo Domínguez, and the current one, by Teresa Helbig.
Talent on Board
During these weeks, the Espacio Iberia hosted numerous meetings with personalities from the world of culture, music, cinema, and art, who are included in the airline's Talent on Board programme.
Thus, Espacio Iberia featured conversations and performances featuring the well-known urban artist from the Comuna13 in Medellín, Chota13, the band Ventino, the singer-songwriter Maréh, and the actors Majida Issa and Marlon Moreno.
In addition, it served as the stage for the launch of LALIGA's sponsorship in Latin America, to bring the best of entertainment, culture and fun to thousands of fans in this region. The presentation was attended by former football player Joaquín Sánchez, who is a LALIGA ambassador.
Live Programmes
The Espacio Iberia became a radio studio from where numerous shows were broadcast from stations such as WRadio, LaFM and Blu Radio. Also, Spanish shows such as La Linterna, on Cadena COPE, with Ángel Expósito at the helm, were broadcast from the Espacio Iberia on 2 October.
Additionally, in alliance with the newspaper Portafolio, a forum was held in which participants discussed the social and economic impact of aviation in Colombia and the world.
The media in attendance learnt about the social project “Benposta: La Nación de los Muchachos,” in which Iberia collaborates through the Mano a Mano foundation, whose representatives spent one morning at the Espacio. It is worth mentioning that most of the furniture used during these weeks in Espacio Iberia has been donated to this project.
Increased Frequencies to Colombia
The choice of Bogotá as the first country outside Spain to host the Espacio Iberia was not made at random, given that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the airline’s first flight to connect the capital of Colombia with Spain and the rest of Europe.
In addition, Iberia will increase its connectivity between Colombia and Spain in the next winter season to 21 weekly frequencies, with three daily flights.
In this way, by operating this route entirely using latest-generation A350 aircraft, the airline offers a total of 610,000 seats during 2023, which represents a 93% increase compared to pre-pandemic figures.
