Iberia Brings Medical Supplies from China to the Americas

• New York, Santo Domingo, and Guatemala City have been served with medical supplies from China brought by Iberia on behalf of international logistics operators.
• From late March until late May, Iberia will have operated a total of more than 80 flights carrying such supplies from the Chinese cities of Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou.

Iberia is now bringing medical supplies from China to cities in the Americas, including New York, via Madrid.

In the context of the global Covid-19 emergency, it has already delivered whole plane loads of supplies to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.

More than 80 flights from Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou 

In late March, the Spanish airline began using its aircraft with extra flight crews aboard to make the long, direct, quick-turnaround flights from Madrid to China and back, loading masks, gowns, ventilators, and other supplies in the airports of Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou.

The flights –more than 80 completed or planned before the end of May–have been staged in collaboration with the FENIN (Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies) and the Grupo Oesía. Iberia has also brought Chinese medical supplies to Spain on behalf of the Spanish government, and for clients of IAG Cargo and other logistics operators.

For many decades prior to the Covid-19 emergency, Iberia has been the leading airline on routes between Europe and Latin America, also serving New York, Miami, and other major US cities, as well as numerous destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
