Iberia has received an award for being the aviation company in Spain with most women in executive positions. The award was given at the annual Seminar on Women in Aviation organised by the Spanish trade magazine Flynews. It was accepted on Iberia’s behalf by Celia Múñoz, representing the airline, María Ángeles Rubio, representing Iberia’s Airport Services, and Eylo González, on behalf of Iberia Maintenance.
The award was handed over by Antonio Lasaga, Human Resources director for Airbus.
Gender equality in the aviation business was this year’s theme under the heading “The Future of Equality is being Written Today”. A second study of the participation of women in the aviation industry was also presented.
Inside the company, the Diversity and Inclusion Plan has been launched to promote existing female talent. This project includes initiatives to overcome the often unconscious bias that can impede diversity and deprive the company of the corresponding advantages. Meanwhile, support is being given to a group of high-potential females employees in the form of career development programmes. And to ensure greater gender equality, recruitment and personnel selection policies have been adjusted to see that equal numbers of women and men appear as candidates for positions in Iberia.
