A Million thanks to Iberia customers from a Million children

Unicef, un millón de gracias
  • Thanks to the micro-donations made by Iberia customers on iberia.com, and to the collaboration of Amadeus, UNICEF has been able to vaccinate more than a million children so they can grow up healthy and fly high.
  • This gives Iberia a special reason to celebrate International Children’s Day today.

Since 2013, Iberia has worked with the Spanish UNICEF Committee and Amadeus, the Global Distribution System, to collect donations of three to 20 euros from customers buying flight tickets on iberia.com, Iberia’s website. These micro-donations help fund UNICEF children’s vaccination programmes in several countries.

Six year after the launch of this project, more than one million euros have been collected, which has paid for vaccinations for more than a million children in Chad, Angola and Cuba so that they can grow healthy and fly high.

UNICEF is currently allocating these donations made by Iberia customers to the Cuban National Immunization Programme. In 2018, thanks to these donations, UNICEF funded vaccinations against measles, mumps and German measles of of 80% of Cuban children under a year old.

One million thanks to all Iberia customers who have made this possible. Click on this video to see some Cuban children express their gratitude.
