For Iberia’s Executive Chairman Javier Sánchez-Prieto, “The broadening of the code-sharing agreement with Qatar Airways is very good news. In Iberia we are preparing for the end of the current restrictions of flights in several countries, and hope to offer our customers the most global network possible. Collaboration with our Qatari partner in the oneworld alliance will facilitate our arrival in new markets in Africa and the Pacific, improving Spain’s connectivity with the rest of the world, with the high-quality service for which Qatar Airways is famed”.
Qatar Airways Executive Chairman Akbar Al Baker commented “We are delighted to increase our code-sharing cooperation with Iberia, Spain’s principal airline and a leader on routes between Europe and Latin America. Despite the challenges of 2020, our priority has been to maintain an attractive connectivity for our customers. Qatar Airways and Iberia have been sharing codes since 2017, giving our customers more travel options and impeccable connectivity. As international air traffic recovers, we hope to continue to broaden our cooperation with Iberia, as we continue to offer our passengers the 5-star service they expect.”
As partners in the oneworld airline alliance, both the Qatar Airways Privilege Club and the Iberia Plus loyalty programmes mutually confer all their privileges upon each other’s members, including use of VIP lounges, an extra luggage allowance, priority check-in and boarding, etc.
