Iberia Launches New Checked Luggage Options

• People travelling light or concerned about sustainability can check in one 15-kg. bag

• Lower price for a single 32-kg. bag

• Overweight charges will now be based each kilo of weight

• Already operational on flights in Europe booked on www.iberia.com of the Iberia app

To adapt to each customer’s individual needs, Iberia is offering new checked luggage options on flights within Europe.

In addition to the standard 23-kilogramme option, starting at 18 euros depending on the fare paid, Iberia is giving its customers two additional choices:

• One 15-kg. option, starting at 13 euros, depending on the fare paid, for passengers travelling light, and those concerned about reducing their carbon footprint.

• One 32-kg. option, which starts at 35 euros, and is cheaper than paying the current overweight charges for the excess over 23 kg.

Overweight charges more precise, thus cheaper

Whether they choose the 15, 23, or 32-kg. option, passengers will no longer pay a minimum 60-euro penalty for excess weight, but will now pay as little as 12 euros per kilogramme above the contracted limit kg. The rate per kg. depends on the fare paid, and it applies only when passengers have booked one of the three weight options in advance.

These new options and rates are available on domestic and European flights operated by Iberia, Iberia Express, and Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum. They are initially available to customers who book via www.iberia.com or the Iberia smartphone app, but soon will be available via travel agents connected to the NDC distribution system.
