Iberia embraces Green Energy

Hangar Barcelona
  • All electric power consumed at Iberia-owned installations now comes from 100% renewable sources

Only electricity generated by renewable sources is used at Iberia-owned installations in Madrid and Barcelona, including the “La Muñoza” industrial area and hangars at Madrid airport, the Madrid airport Cargo Terminal, the Madrid office building on Núñez de Balboa street, the illuminated sign on Avenida de América in Madrid, and Iberia’s maintenance hangar at Barcelona’s Airport.

The initiative embodies Iberia’s commitment to environmental protection, and is aligned with IAG’s aim of becoming the most environmentally sustainable airline group.

For the past month, utilities supplying power to Iberia at the facilities cited have agreed to generate the same amount of power from renewable and high-efficiency co-generation sources.

Renewable energy is the energy that comes from natural sources that are never exhausted, like the sun and the wind. This means it has no impact on the environment, since no CO₂ emissions are caused.

In this way, Iberia is taking another step in curbing its environmental impact and operating much more sustainably.
