As partner to the Madrid trade fair authority, Iberia will offer discount to participants
After decades of collaboration, Iberia has now become the official airline and strategic partner of IFEMA, which operates Madrid’s large fairground complex located between the city and the airport, under an agreement signed today by IFEMA General Manager Eduardo López-Puertas, and Iberia Executive Chairman Luis Gallego.
As official airline and strategic partner, Iberia will promote IFEMA around the world and offer discounts to companies and individuals taking part in events hosted by the trade fair authority.
As major expositor and current president of the annual FITUR travel and tourism fair hosted by IFEMA every January, Iberia sponsors 50% of the travel to the fair by participants and journalists.
Since 2018 Iberia has also played a role in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, and at this year’s event the airline presented the new uniforms designed by Barcelona-based Spanish couturier Teresa Helbig.
Iberia also sponsors the Dialogos awards at the annual ARCOmadrid art fair, which opens tomorrow and closes on 1 March at the IFEMA fairgrounds, where the Spanish airline will also have its own stand in the nexus of pavilions 7 and 9.
Spanish art and fashion both figure prominently in Iberia’s ongoing #talentoabordo project to promote Spanish culture at all its destinations.
Iberia is also a sponsor of this year’s IFEMA-hosted “1001 Bodas” wedding fair, where it will promote honeymoon travel.
With regard to the closer links with Iberia, IFEMA’s Eduardo López-Puertas commented that “Both parties were keen to strengthen the cooperative relations. We have enjoyed for many years and to join forces to generate more value in corporate and individual travel to IFEMA-hosted events, to the benefit of both organisations.”
Iberia’s Executive Chairman chief Luis Gallego stressed the importance of a “strategic alliances aimed at shared objectives --in this instance internationalisation, entrepreneurial support, the generation of wealth, and the promotion of Madrid-- with a partner like IFEMA which is one of the engines driving the economy of Madrid.”
