Iberia, the leading airline on routes between Europe and Latin America, has launched its Talento a bordo (Talent on board) initiative, a new project reflecting its commitment to promote Spanish culture internationally, with a variety of events showcasing the individuals, groups, and institutions that drive contemporary Spanish culture.
Talento a bordo is also a digital platform offering news and high-quality features and interviews that is aimed at promoting Spanish and Latin American artists at all the destinations reached by Iberia.

The presentation of the Talento a bordo initiative and digital platform last night at the Matadero Madrid arts centre was attended by numerous figures from the arts, sport, and culture, including chef Dabiz Muñoz, Venezuelan singer Nella, fashion designer Teresa Helbig, weightlifter Lydia Valentin, music producer Javier Limón, and the president of the Spanish Basketball Federation and former player Jorge Garbajosa. Television presenters Mónica Carrillo and Jesús Gallego acted as mistress and master of ceremonies.
The event was attended by numerous well-known figures from the Spanish entertainment, sport, and cultural scenes, including the chef Samantha Vallejo-Nájera, whose Samantha de España firm supplied the catering for the cocktail party.
Spanish sports figures attending included Jeús Tortosa (taekwondo), Silvia Mas (sailing), Sandra Sánchez (karate), Niko Sherazhadisvilly (judo), Fátima Gálvez (shooting), María López (hockey), Teresa Portela (canoeing), Sarai Gascón (paralympic swimming), Loida Zabala (paralympic weightlifting), María Delgado (paralympic swimming), and Eva Moral (paralympic triathlon)

For Iberia, the event was attended by the airline’s Corporate Manager Juan Cierco, and Marketing and Brand Manager Gemma Juncá.
The Talento a bordo initiative represents an escalation of Iberia’s role as ambassador for Spanish talent in a variety of fields and disciplines –art, music, film, theatre, design, literature, sport, photography, etc.
With more than 90 years of history, Iberia is a major exponent of “Brand Spain” in the 50 countries to which it flies, connecting people, stories, and cultures.
In the course of 2019 the airline has already sponsored or taken part in a number of events in the framework of the Talento a bordo programme, including the bicentenary celebrations of the Prado Museum, the Platino awards for Ibero-American cinema, and the Sorolla exhibition at London’s National Gallery. In addition, it has collaborated with Spain’s national football and basketball federations.
Iberia also organised the “Volando Tour” of Latin America and the United States by music composer and producer Javier Limón featuring the song ”Volando” (“Flying”) he wrote for the airline, The tour is the subject of a feature-length documentary to be released in 2020. The song, composed to mark the acquisition of Iberia’s latest Airbus aircraft, was sung by Venezuelan singer Nelly and a chorus of voices from numerous Iberia destinations. Nelly won this year’s Latin Grammy as “Best New Artist” and a 14 November ceremony in Las Vegas. At last night’s evenr she handed the Grammy to Iberia’s executive chairman Luis Gallego as a gesture of gratitude to the airline.
