Iberia boosts summer services to Portugal by 9% over 2019

On May 1st, Iberia will begin operating its summer routes to and from Portugal, a market in which the airline will increase its capacity by 9% percent over 2019, a sign of its commitment to improving connections with Spain’s Western neighbour.

In addition to the year-round flights from Madrid to Lisbon and Porto, Funchal will be added to Iberia’s network in May and Faro and the Azores in June. These five destinations will have good connectivity in Madrid with Iberia's network of more than 100 international routes in Europe, the United States, and Latin America.

Starting in May, Iberia will offer 67 weekly frequencies in each direction between Madrid and its Portuguese destinations, compared with 65 offered in 2019. In August, the busiest month, the total will rise to 76 flights, up 58% from August 2021 and 15% from the same month of 2019.

Summer Destinations are Madeira, the Algarve, and the Azores

From May 1st to the end of October, Iberia will offer direct flights from Madrid to Funchal three times a week (Monday, Friday, and Sunday). In July, these flights will increase to five, and in August Iberia will offer a daily flight to the Madeiran capital.

Iberia Regional /Air Nostrum’s 100-seat CRJ1000s will be used on this route.

On June 2nd, Iberia will launch its second summer destination in Portugal –Faro, in the Algarve. The airline will start offering return flights on Thursdays, and Saturdays. In July, Iberia will fly five times a week to Faro, and in August it will fly daily, as per the following schedule:

More Flights to and from Lisbon and Porto

In addition to its summer destinations in Portugal, Iberia will also increase frequencies between Madrid and Lisbon with up to 36 weekly flights in each direction, compared to 33 in 2019.

Likewise, the Madrid-Porto route: Iberia will offer up to 28 weekly frequencies (four daily flights) from May to October, compared to 26 in 2019.

To both Lisbon and Porto, there will be flights at all hours, for the convenience of the business travellers. The firts flight leaves Madrid at 06:35h and the last departs at 23:05h for same-day return. The first Madrid-Porto flight departs at 08:20, and the last at 19:35h.
