Iberia Airport Services to Serve Over One Million Passengers in the First Summer Holiday Operation

• The Iberia Group will carry close to 360,000 travellers during this weekend (June 30^th – July 2^nd)
• The Iberia Airports team will service 3,257 flights at 29 Spanish airports and expects to handle nearly 650,000 pieces of luggage
• Between July and September, Iberia will add more than 300 charter flights to its regular operation, 9.4% more than in 2022
• Iberia hired almost 2,500 employees to reinforce its airport staff, including pilots, cabin crew and maintenance technicians

This weekend will see the first summer exit operation, with excellent prospects for the tourism sector.

Iberia Airport Services, the handling business that provides services to Iberia and 150 other airlines at 29 Spanish airports, will serve more than one million passengers between Friday, 30 June, and Sunday, 2 July, 14% more than in 2022.

Over these three days, it will provide services to more than 3,200 flights -5.5% more than the previous year- and expects to handle over 635,000 pieces of luggage, between departures, arrivals and connections.

Children, once again, will be at the centre of the holiday operation from Spanish airports and, this weekend, Iberia Airport Services will accompany more than 3,200 minors who are travelling by themselves.

16% More Passengers Than in 2022

A third of Iberia Airport Services’ customers belong to the Iberia Group, which from Friday to Sunday will transport close to 360,000 travellers, 16.2% more than last year.

Most of these passengers will have their origin/destination at the Madrid airport, where the Iberia Group will operate a total of 1,214 flights this weekend, between departures and arrivals, nearly 5% more than in 2022.

More Flights to the US and Latin America, Summer Destinations and Charter Flights for Cruise Passengers

Iberia programmed significant growth for this summer in its main markets: the US and Latin America (mainly Colombia, Mexico, and Peru), and, along with Iberia Express, it will also operate 15 attractive summer destinations, especially in Croatia, Italy, Greece and Portugal.

To these scheduled flights, the airline will add more than 300 charter flights in July, August, and September, 9.4% more than last year. These types of operations are arranged for a specific route and date and are aimed, above all, at cruise passengers. Specifically, Iberia will operate flights to Bari, Hamburg, Athens, Catania, and Venice for Costa Cruceros and MSC, while it will fly to Tirana for the Spanish agency W2M and operate one weekly flight to Egypt for Sama Travel
