image
  • Adding two weekly flights for a total of 14, indicating commitment to this strategic market and, strengthening Latin American leadership position.
  • Thanks to a distribution agreement with Aeroméxico, Iberia extends its reach in the interior of Mexico to an additional 40 cities, and connects them to its own 90+ European destinations.
  • The increase is marked by a promotion campaign offering fares from 11,929MXN for return flights to Madrid in Economy, with flexibility for changes and cancellations.
  • On this route Iberia uses the latest 348-seat Airbus A-350/900s, which are 25% more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.
  • Three seating classes all feature high-speed Wi-Fi, more roominess, and an advanced air conditioning system.
  • The airline also offers access to Covid-10 tests at advantageous prices.

Mexico has relaxed all health restrictions on foreign visitors and Spain now accepts all vaccinated travellers, boosting demand in both directions.

Iberia has always regarded Mexico as a strategic market, and as demand recovers, it has gradually increased flight frequencies. A single daily flight was offered last December, and the summer season began with 12 flights per week, a total which in September is being raised to 14 weekly flights, reflecting the Spanish airline’s commitment to this market and to maintaining its leadership position in Latin America.

The increase is intended to favour the flow of travellers from both sides of the Atlantic, while boosting Mexico’s connectivity with the more than 90 European cities served by Iberia.

A distribution agreement with Aeroméxico gives Iberia passengers easy access to and from another 40 Mexican cities, including Monterrey, Cancún, Guadalajara, Acapulco, and San Luis Potosí.

To mark the increase in flights, Iberia is offering promotional fares starting at 11,929MXN for return flights in Economy, and flights can be changed or fares exchanged for vouchers under Iberia’s flexibility policy.

Iberia’s Sales Manager for Latin America,  Victor Moneo, commented: “This year marks the 75th anniversary of our first flights from Spain to Latin America --flights to Mexico began in 1950. Since then, Mexico has been a strategic market for us, in both holiday and business travel. Traffic on the route has grown steadily, and before the outbreak of the pandemic we were operating 21 return flights each week.

“Though we have a long way to go to reach those figures again, we are confident that the 14 weekly flights will help enliven the market, In addition, a country like Mexico with so many tourist attractions as well as business centres apart from the capital, called for an interior distribution network, which we now have thanks to the agreement with Aeroméxico.

“The route also deserves to be served by our newest and quietest airliner, the Airbus A-350/900, in which our customers will find an unrivalled travel experience.”.
