Iberia is a member of the United Nations Global Compact – Spanish Network since 2004, so the company is committed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since its approval in 2015. Within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, the company carries out its activities within a framework of responsibility and transparency, caring for the environment and actively collaborating in the social sphere, with a special focus on the following SDGs and targets:

Priority target:
3.9 By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination.
Initiatives with which we support this target:
- Fleet renewal with new generation aircraft, which are more efficient and sustainable, and also reduce noise impact.
- Each flight is operated as efficiently as possible, allowing for a very significant reduction in emissions and fossil fuel consumption.
- Removal of single-use plastic bags, wrappers and containers from the on-board service, and recycle of waste generated during flight and on the ground.
- Employees training for waste management improvement.

Priority target:
5.5 Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.
Initiatives with which we support this target:
- Female talent development and mentoring programme: Take the lead, to promote the professional career of women towards positions of greater responsibility.
- External competitiveness study to ensure that salaries in Iberia are in line with the market and that there is no gender pay gap.
- Review from the gender perspective of various human resources processes such as attracting talent, leadership profile, evaluation, succession plan, climate survey, Training Plan and talent programmes.
- Implementation of the 50% requirement of CVs in its selection processes of external candidates, for profiles where there is enough representation of both genders in the labour market.

Priority targets:
8.4 Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production, with developed countries taking the lead.
8.5 By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.
8.8 Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women migrants, and those in precarious employment.
Initiatives with which we support this targets:
- Increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). In comparison with fossil fuels, the use of SAF can reduce emissions by up to 80% or even 90% in terms of life cycle, and it is essential advance in the decarbonization of air transport.
- Self-consumption plant has been installed on the roof of the Engine Overhaul Shop, a 10.000 square meters solar field with a power output of 2.000 kWp that will produce around 2,7 million kWh/year, which means 32.000 tons less of CO2 during the lifetime of the project.
- As of 2019, all electrical energy consumed at Iberia-owned facilities comes from 100% renewable sources.
- During 2022, 2.678 permanent contracts were signed, on which 2.306 are conversions from temporary to permanent contracts.
- In 2022 the mimimun wage in Iberia was above the legal minimun wage (16.701 € versus 14.000 €).
- Iberia collaborates actively whith Envera thus ensuring compliance with the General Disabilities Act by contracting services from the Envera Special Employment Centre. Thanks to the support of companies like Iberia, Envera is able to offer stable employment to more than 800 people with disabilities.
- Iberia is committed to complying with Human Rights in the scope of its activity and that of its supply chain, as stated in the "IAG Group Statement on Slavery and Human Trafficking". You can read this document here.
- Iberia’s Occupational Risk Prevention System is certified by the auditing company Audelco.
Iberia has 18 occupational health and safety committees, 1 inter-center commitee, 83 safety delegates, and 100% for employees are represented in these commitees.

Priority target:
9.4 By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.
Initiatives with which we support this target:
- Fleet renewal with new generation aircraft, which are more efficient and sustainable, and also reduce noise impact.
- Each flight is operated as efficiently as possible, allowing for a very significant reduction in emissions and fossil fuel consumption.
- Iberia support the world’s most important innovation and the entrepreneurship platform, South Summit. In addition, Iberia takes part in Hangar 51, the startup collaboration programme of the IAG Group.
- The airline has developed its iBot, which is available on iberia.com and WhatsApp as an additional channel of communication whit its customers.

Priority target:
10.2 By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.
Initiatives with which we support this target:
- The airline collaborates with non-profit organisations so that to create a positive social impact, directing its efforts to support disadvantaged children, child health, and the integration of people at risk of exclusion, in the communities where Iberia conduct its business.
- Iberia’s employees are committed to sustainability, and they participate in initiatives such as the Iberia Volunteers programme; since 2019, more than 400 employees have collaborated with several NGOs.
Priority targets:
11.2 By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notably by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons.
11.6 By 2030, reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact of cities, including by paying special attention to air quality and municipal and other waste management.
Initiatives with which we support this targets:
- Iberia has a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan that was redesigned and relaunched in 2022 which strategic focus on persons with disabilities, and the company is developing a plan to improve the customer with disabilities experience.

12.4 By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment.
12.5 By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
12.6 Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.
12.8 By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

- Iberia has been pioneering the publication of sustainability reports, since publishing our first Environmental Report in 1994. Since then, the format and content of the document has been adapting to the ever-increasing demand for information, and greater transparency and rigour.
- Iberia participates in forums, events and interviews related to sustainability where company projects and initiatives are explained with the aim of informing and raising awareness among the general population.

3.2 Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning.

Priority target:
17.16 Enhance North-South, South-South and triangular regional and international cooperation on and access to science, technology and innovation and enhance knowledge sharing on mutually agreed terms, including through improved coordination among existing mechanisms, in particular at the United Nations level, and through a global technology facilitation mechanism.
Initiatives with which we support this target:
- Iberia has collaboration agreements with the public sector, universities, private companies and the third sector; all these agreements, regardless of their objective, are based on the company's Sustainability Strategy and other internal policies and regulations, such as the Code of Conduct or the Anti-Corruption Policy.
