Iberia Family Gets Together for Christmas

• The Spanish airline is launching its holiday advertising campaign with two touching real-life stories that took place aboard its aircraft.
• We meet Antonino seven years after he was born aboard a Malabo-Madrid flight.
• Dr. Antonio and his patient Moisés to meet again on Christmas Eve.

With Christmas approaching, and with it the rejoining of many families, good wishes, Christmas carols, and sweet treats, Iberia's traditional holiday message will also be aired. This year, the airline is reuniting the protagonists of two of the many human stories that play out upon its flights, people joined forever by destiny, but who have not met for a long while.

Antonino, a Baby Born on an Iberia flight

It was 03:30 in the morning, aboard flight IB3721 Malabo-Madrid, when little Antonino decided it was time to be born, a little more than two hours after take-off in the capital of Equatorial Guinea.

Fate decreed that a midwife, a paediatrician, and a family doctor were also aboard. Supported by the Iberia crew, they delivered the baby without a hitch.

Antonino is now seven years old, and happy and lively, just like his godmother Inma, a flight attendant who helped him into the world on 3 June 2011.

Antonio, a Genuine Superhero

Moisés was only six years old, when he came with his mother, Florinda, to Spain. From Guayaquil, they were flying to the Spanish city of Murcia to treat Moisés’ leukaemia at the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital.

He was one of the children who could fly to Spain for treatment thanks to Iberia’s Employee NGO Mano a Mano (“Hand to Hand”).

In February, 2017, Moisés crossed paths with the specialist physician Antonio, who was to operate on him. Antonio is known for his goodness and altruism.

The operation was a success, and today Moisés is a healthy child, living in Ecuador with his mother. The two flew back to Spain for a new check-up, and again met the man who saved Moisés’ life.
