Feel at home

"Hello. I’m Marisa Alonso.  I’ve been a Red Jacket for nearly 20 years, and I’ve been watching Vicente grow up since he began to fly with us when he was only a little guy.

I now work on Iberia’s Premium Team and I still see Vicente when he comes, now unaccompanied by any Iberia staffer, to the Dalí Premium lounge.

When I see him going through the lounge, now a young man, I can close my eyes and recall the first few times Vicente flew alone, waiting in the unaccompanied minors facilities for one of us to take him aboard his flight. At first, he was very shy, but as he got to know us he relaxed and seemed to feel more and more at home.

I remember that Vicente usually took the last Sunday evening flight from Madrid to Almería, and what he would normally do when he arrived was to ask for the football results, especially those of his team. Real Madrid. And then do his homework for school the next day.

A few days ago he was going to fly to Almería, as always. But it was not one more day; a surprise was awaiting for him. Would you like to watch it?"
