Iberia became a backer of the “Ellas vuelan alto” [“High Flying Women”] association whose aim is to support equal opportunities in the aviation and aerospace industry through heightening the visibility of women professionals in it.The move is in keeping with the airline’s plan to seek greater diversity in its staff.
An agreement between Iberia and the association was signed yesterday during a conference on the future of Spanish airports held at Iberia's Madrid headquarters.
Speakers at the conference included Spanish State Air Safety Director, Isabel Maestre; Spanish Secretary General for Transport, Maria José Rallo; Barcelona-El Prat Airport director, Sonia Corrochano; Groundforce Managing Director, Carmen López Pintor, as well as Maria Ángeles Rubio, Iberia Airport Services and Development Manager together with Luis Gallego, Iberia’s Chairman and CEO.
The conference addressed such topics as how to meet the challenge of the continuing growth of air traffic whilst protecting the environment, and using technology to increase efficiency and improve the customer experience.
