Iberia’s Chairman and CEO, Luis Gallego, together with the Spanish airline Chief Customer and Loyalty Officer, María Jesús López, have received the Skytrax Award for the “Best Airline in Southern Europe” during Le Bourget air show which is taking place in Paris until June 23.
Skytrax is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Its awards are based in a survey of 21 million passengers with 100 different nationalities carried out from September 2018 until May 2019. Among the services evaluated were on board and airport experiences offered by 300 airlines.
Iberia has been recognised as the “Best Airline in Southern Europe” ahead of airlines such a Turkish Airlines, which was a finalist in the same award category.
Iberia’s Chairman and CEO, Luis Gallego commented: “Since receiving our fourth Skytrax star, we have continued working to improve our product. The award is the merit of our employees who work hard every day to give customers the best service”.
The fourth Skytrax star is recognition of Iberia’s high and consistent standards of product and passenger service quality, both in the air and at its T4 hub at the Madrid airport.
Iberia’s Chief Customers and Loyalty Officer, María Jesús López, said: “In these two years we have made great strides in our service quality. We have brought in the new Premium Economy class on most of our flights to the Americas. We have completely remodelled the Dalí and Velázquez Premium Lounges in T4 in the Madrid airport. We have added such new-generation aircraft as the Airbus A350/900 for a completely new passenger experience on trans-Atlantic flights. This award reflects our customers’ appreciation of all these improvements.”
