  • Avios Solidarios is the first idea to become a reality

  • Avios Solidarios is an example of open innovation and corporate social responsibility carried out by Iberia in collaboration with customers and staff

Open innovation and a more collaborative company culture are two of the most important concepts emerging from Iberia’s ongoing digital transformation programme.

Under this programme, the airline asked its employees for ideas for sustainable improvements to all company areas: from customer care to flight operations, and including internal process as well as more visible activities.

An “idea laboratory” was set up to choose 20 finalists and six winners amongst the more than 400 ideas that were submitted.

The first of these to be put into practice is Avios Solidarios, which enables Iberia customer’s to donate Avios -frequent flyers’ points- to such NGOs as Ayuda en Acción, Fundación Aladina, Fundación Integra, Make-a-Wish, Fundación 38 grados, and Aviación Sin Fronteras, along with Iberia employees’ own Mano a Mano and Envera NGOs, and the Fundación Sepla Ayuda. More organizations are expected to join the program later, including Save The Children.

Iberia Plus customers can log on to www.iberia.com to choose where to donate their Avios. They only need enter the “Avios and Elite Points” area of the Iberia website to find the link to Avios Solidarios, to make their choice and specify the size of their donation.

Avios Solidarios thus becomes a project which arises from inviting employees to propose innovations and the company is pursuing in collaboration with customers; an innovation project in keeping with the airline’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
