  • The Applus+ inspection and certification company has accredited Iberia’s SARS-CoV2 Prevention Plan as correctly implemented in its offices, hangars, workshops, and Spanish airport installations.
  • The plan, in conformity with the “Quironprevention Covid-19 Safety Protocol” includes hygiene measures, social distancing rules, risk prevention practices, and protocols for dealing with suspected infections.
  • Iberia has also been a pioneer in Spain in the implementation of all health and safety recommendations issued by the European and Spanish air safety agencies (EASA, and AESA, respectively), and the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC).

The leading inspection and certification company Applus+ has certified Iberia’s installations --offices, hangars, workshops, and airport facilities-- as workplaces that are safe from Covid-19.

Applus+ conducted audits of all such installations to ensure that the Spanish airline’s SARS-Cov2 Prevention Plan is being implemented correctly in accordance with the “Quironprevention Covid-19 Safety Protocol”.

The prevention plan includes hygiene measures, social distancing rules, risk prevention practices, and protocols for dealing with suspected cases, as well as coordination with outside firms, and in-house information campaigns.

Comprehensive Safety and Hygiene Plan

Iberia's Comprehensive Safety and Hygiene Plan makes use of information and signage to ensure compliance with rules on social distancing, hand-washing, the use of face masks, etc.

New deep cleaning and disinfection practices are also being used on Iberia equipment, workplaces, and ventilation systems, which have been boosted to  replace air more quickly.

Vertical barriers, floor markers and wall signs are used to ensure compliance with social distancing rules and to prevent accidental close encounters. There are strict limits on the number of people allowed into common spaces such as classrooms, conference rooms, dressing rooms, and bathrooms.

Iberia is also facilitating teleworking and on-line meetings, while reorganising and staggering work schedules to prevent congregations of employees at certain times.

Iberia is also administering antibody and PCR tests to employees, and has deployed temperature check stations at strategic locations.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic Iberia has established a number of protocols for dealing with suspected cases amongst employees.

Iberia has also been a pioneer in Spain in its adherence to the recommendations handed down by the European and Spanish air safety agencies (EASA and AESA) and the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) to facilitate the recovery of commercial aviation in a safe environment.

These measures are explained in detail on the Iberia website: https://www.iberia.com/es/en/covid-19/measures-taken/
