Bob.io, the Spanish start-up pioneering post-COVID travel, will enable Iberia passengers to check their luggage at home and travel unencumbered to the airport.
The new cooperation agreement reflects the interest of both companies in making air travel safer and more convenient through this new “touchless” service, in accordance with the recommendations made by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A study by IATA showed that 42% of air travellers are concerned about the infection risk of queueing to check luggage at airports.
Forget about luggage
When checking in on-line for their flights via www.iberia.com, Iberia passengers can now reserve Bob.io’s home luggage pick-up service when they fly from the airports of Madrid, Barcelona, Gran Canaria (LPA), La Coruña (LCG) or Bilbao (BIO) and to forget about their luggage until arriving at their destination. This means skipping queues at airport check-in counters, for added safety and convenience. This service by Bob.io is expected to be extended to other Spanish cities.
Drivers from Bob.io will appear at a previously agreed place and time. They will verify the passenger’s identity, following international protocols. Luggage will then be disinfected and sealed to ensure it cannot be interfered with subsequently. At the airport it will again be disinfected.

This pioneering agreement with Iberia is key to the future development and growth of Bob.io, since it gives us direct access to a larger proportion of the airline’s passengers and they can book our service simply and easily.”
Iberia’s Senior Innovation Manager Alberto Terol Conthe commented, “Iberia’s commitment to innovation via start-ups has helped us find a great technological partner in Bob.io, giving our customers agile new luggage pick-up services, and developing the service very quickly.”
Passengers flying to Madrid from any of the other airports named can also opt to have Bob.io deliver their luggage to any Madrid address.
Bob.io’s luggage pick up service starts at a fee of 20 euros, but is gratis for holders of Iberia Plus Platinum, Infinita, and Infinita Prime cards.
