Iberia has been awarded four Skytrax stars for safety from Covid-19, following evaluation of the effectiveness and consistency of the measures the airline has taken in the areas of cleanliness, hygiene, and risk prevention, both in airports and aboard aircraft
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Iberia was amongst the first airlines to adopt and implement all the recommendations of the
Spanish Air Safety Agency (AESA), the European
Air Safety Agency (EASA) and the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC), in order to facilitate the recovery of the commercial aviation industry in Europe and throughout the world in a safe environment:
The implementation of these new protocols earned Iberia a four-star rating Skytrax, a recognition added to that of the Safe Travel Barometer which also places Iberia amongst the safest carriers.
The airline continues to spare no efforts to ensure the maximum safety of its customers and staff, through improvements to cleaning and sanitation, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), plus new protocols in airports and aboard aircraft, for the safest and most pleasant travel experience possible.
These measures range from the recommendation to issue the boarding pass on the website and download it to the mobile phone, check in hand luggage and boarding and disembarking in rows to reduce interactions, to reinforcing the cleaning and sanitation of their aircraft and, of course, the use of face masks. Iberia has also been certified as a safe workplace, upon accreditation of its SARS-CoV2 Prevention Plan for its staff, in accordance with the Hygiene and Control requisites of Applus Certification PHC Ed. 1, affecting Iberia offices, hangars, workshops, and facilities at Spanish airports.
