Iberia and Iberia Express Again Top World On-time Ratings in May

  • FlightStats reports that 96.1% of Iberia flights arrived on time, the highest mark attained by any global airline in the month
  • Iberia Express topped the regional airlines chart for May, with an on-time rating of 97.3%

 

As Iberia and Iberia Express Iberia progressively resume normal operations, they have already returned to the top of the world’s punctuality ratings.

The industry monitoring and consulting firm FlightStats found that in the month of May, 96.1% of the 3,297 flights operated by Iberia arrived on time, beating out all other global airlines. The number of flights remained 60% below that of the same month or 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic began.

Iberia Express, the Iberia group’s regional arm, logged an on-time rating of 97.3% in May, tops for regional carriers in the month, with 1,194 flights, also 60% fewer than in May, 2019.

These results reflect the hard work of the Spanish airline group’s production, airport, maintenance, and sales teams throughout the pandemic, ensuring an optimum passenger experience from the very start of the recovery. 

 

Leaders in Punctuality

Iberia was the world’s most punctual global airline in 2016 and 2017, reaching third place in Europe in 2018. and second in Europe and fifth in the world in 2019.

The airline’s rise to prominence in the punctuality chart was a result of its ongoing digital and organisational transformation, enhancing efficiency and flexibility across the board.

For the entire 2014-2018 period Iberia Express was the world’s most punctual low-cost airline, and was Europe’s most punctual in 2019. Founded in 2011, it almost immediately placed itself amongst the world’s most efficient low-cost carriers.
