  • Audelco ensured compliance with international standards.
  • The Iberia Airports Division achieved this certification in just three months.
  • The certificated was obtained during the bidding process for the handling services tender. People are one of the main pillars on which Iberia Airport Services has built its offer to obtain licenses in 41 Spanish airports.

Iberia Airport Services, the Iberia Airports division, saw its Health and Safety Management system certified in accordance with the ISO 45001:2018 standard, which guarantees compliance with these international standards.

The certification was issued by AUDELCO, a body specialising in auditing and certification of management systems, and leader in Occupational Risk Prevention.

A solid and consistent Health and Safety Management system in its work centres has allowed Iberia Airport Services to achieve this certification in three months.

In its tender for the handling contest, Aena identified this certificate as a valuable element that guarantees that handling activities meet safety and health levels for workers higher than those established in the Workplace Risk Prevention Legislation. Celia Martínez Calderón, Director of People in the Airports division, added that, We felt that it was good not only to carry out our activities with optimal standards in terms of prevention and health, but also having them accredited by an independent body. And if, in addition, it complied with one of the extra requirements for Aena licenses, that means we have accomplished both those objectives.”

Iberia Airport Services employs professionals in risk prevention with extensive experience in the sector, specifically in handling activities in the different delegations and national airports.

"Our historical presence in airports throughout Spain and this level of professionalism allows us to conduct risk assessments for all tasks, functions, equipment, and facilities," adds Martínez Calderón. “Operational and regulatory knowledge makes adopting preventive measures appropriate and realistic to the identified needs. Added to this is the fact that we have external collaborators who help us find technological and innovative solutions.”

Iberia Airport Services, Leader in the Handling Sector

Obtaining this Health and Safety Management certificate endorsed by AUDELCO has been directly linked to the ramp handling tenders organized by by Aena, with Iberia Airport Services aiming to obtain the licenses in 41 airports.

The technical part of these tenders has been built on three pillars: innovation, sustainability, and people, and in all three, Iberia Airport Services has submitted a very robust offer. In the people area, Aena has included requirements that are related, above all, to training and occupational risk prevention.
