Iberia Regrets the Failure to Come to an Agreement with the Unions Calling for the Strike

• Iberia reiterates that the mere call for a strike already caused enormous damage to thousands of people whose trips are being disrupted, as well as to the more than 90 airlines that Iberia Airport Services works with.

• The airline insists that the strike is unjustified, given that all jobs, as well as salary conditions and social benefits, are guaranteed for life by the Fifth Sector Agreement in all subrogation processes.

• More than 90% of customers have already been provided with solutions for the cancellation of their flights, either being relocated to other flights, dates, or times, or receiving a refund for their tickets.

The meeting between Iberia and the unions (UGT/CCOO, USO, and Comité Intercentro) ended without reaching any positive agreements, so unfortunately the strike called for 5, 6, 7 and 8 January is still on.

Iberia reiterates that the mere call for a strike already caused enormous damage to thousands of people who are seeing their trips disrupted, as well as to the more than 90 airlines that Iberia Airport Services serves and that were forced to cancel and change flights.

Likewise, Iberia emphasises the lack of justification for this strike, given that all jobs, as well as salary conditions and social benefits are guaranteed for life by the Fifth Sector Agreement in all subrogation processes thanks, among other things, to the work carried out these years by the union representatives who are now calling a strike:

• All jobs are guaranteed by subrogation, so no destruction of employment or job reduction will be taking place.

• Salary guarantee calculated based on the last 12 months, with the salary reviews agreed in the operator or sector agreement.

• Guarantee of same annual working hours and vacation days as in the last 12 months.

• Worker seniority guarantee.

• Guarantee of the same type of contract and labour group.

• Guarantee of the salary review established in the operator or sector agreement, for all concepts.

• Guarantee of acquired rights on the use of airline tickets.

• Guarantee of pension plans.

More than 90% of Customers Relocated

The strike forced Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum to cancel more than 400 flights, affecting over 45,000 passengers. The airline already offered solutions to 92% of them, either by relocating them to other flights, dates, and times, or providing a refund for their tickets if that was preferable to them.

The airline continues to work to relocate the remaining travellers, given the complexity of the post-Christmas period, and the high occupancy factor of the flights.

Customers who wish to do so can still request any changes to their flights through the Iberia website, the travel agencies where they purchased their tickets and the airline's Customer Service Centre, where extra staff are working to help customers, but where nonetheless the wait time may be longer than usual. The telephone number to call from Spain is 900 111 500. Telephone numbers for callers outside Spain can be found on the Iberia website.

Once again, Iberia thanks all its customers for their understanding and patience and apologises for the inconvenience caused by the strike called by the airport services unions.
