Iberia wanted to join the celebration of the bicentennial of the National Police and named the most efficient, sustainable, and modern aircraft in its fleet after the oldest state institution in Spain.
The aircraft in question is an A350 Next, with registration EC-OFM and named “Bicentenario Policia Nacional”, which joined Iberia’s fleet this month and began operating last week.
The celebration event, which took place in La Muñoza, was chaired by the president of Iberia, Fernando Candela, and the general director of the National Police, Francisco Pardo. A formation of agents from different units and several patrol cars and uniformed motorcycles escorting the airline's new A350 also took part.
Fernando Candela highlighted the close collaboration between this long-standing institution and Iberia in all the airports in our country. “National Police agents and Iberia workers are there together, every day, with the aim of assisting the trips of millions of people so that their experience is as pleasant and safe as possible.”
Furthermore, the president of Iberia highlighted the fact that the airline and the National Police have many things in common. “Our vocation for public service, our dedication to taking care of citizens and also the fact that we are the oldest in our sector. With 200 years of history, you are the oldest state body of all the Security Forces in
Spain, and we are the oldest airline in Spain: we will turn 100 in 2027.”
For his part, Francisco Pardo pointed out that “today a great dream is taking off with the help of a great company like Iberia. The airline has honoured us by naming one of its aircraft after the Bicentennial of the National Police. For us it will be a real pleasure to see your plane take off, proudly bearing the name of the National Police.”
Pardo expressed his gratitude to “a leading airline such as Iberia, an innovative company that generously gives us the chance to have one of its planes celebrate the Bicentennial of the National Police. We in Spain should feel proud of companies like Iberia, for its great track record of public service since its founding almost a century ago, in 1927. Iberia is providing us with a wonderful way of coming close to people, so that they keep in mind that their bicentennial police force is always by their side, no matter how far they travel."
