Espacio Iberia, the popup store that the airline opened on Gran Vía in Madrid, closes its doors today. From 17 April, after almost four months, more than 110,000 people have enjoyed the Iberia experience, without leaving the ground.
Specifically, around 4,000 visitors were able to taste the on-board menus from the seats of an Iberia A350, almost 6,000 people took the controls of the flight simulator to take off and land from various cities around the world, and more than 15,000 immersed themselves in a virtual reality experience.
In addition, around 25,000 visitors embarked on a very special journey almost 100 years into the past, with a replica of the cabin of the plane with which Iberia made its first flight in 1927, the Rohrbach Roland.
A tour of the flavours of Spain and the world
More than 5,000 people took part in tastings and events showcasing Spanish wines, coffee and Mahou beer.
In addition, theme days were held for destinations such as Japan, with an origami workshop; Puerto Rico, with rum tasting; Buenos Aires, with tango lessons; Valencia, with paella and horchata tastings; and Disneyland Paris, especially for the youngest visitors, among other activities.
More than 1,000 people participated in the different showcooking events, some of which were very special, such as the one carried by Quispe, one of the most recognized Peruvian haute cuisine restaurants in Madrid, an event in which attendees were able to taste some quintessential Andean dishes, such as ceviche and causa.
In this edition of Espacio Iberia, a Premium Lounge area was set up with views of the Gran Vía and Plaza de Callao, where around 2,000 people were able to rest and enjoy some tapas, accompanied by wine, beer, coffee and a range of cocktails.
An Espacio Iberia brimming with talent
During these almost four months, Espacio Iberia has hosted 29 meetings with talented people from all spheres, from chefs of the calibre of Dabiz Muñoz to singers such as Julieta Venegas, Rozalén and Marina Tuset; actors such as the protagonists of the musicals The Lion King and Aladdin; sports legends such as Pau Gasol and David Villa, and even some of the athletes who are currently competing in the Paris Olympic Games, such as Ray Zapata, Niko Shera, Hugo González de Oliveira and Irene Sánchez Escribano, among others. Around 2,300 visitors participated in these events.
Also, at Espacio Iberia, we first heard the names of those called for the Olympic Games as part of the National Basketball Team, both male and female, and we held events with partners such as Envera, the association of Iberia employees who are parents of people with disabilities.
Additionally, several radio stations such as Cadena SER, Onda Cero, Radio Marca and Onda Madrid, as well as the Colombian Blu Radio, broadcast their programmes from Espacio Iberia.
Espacio Iberia closes its doors tonight at 9 p.m.
